The Beauty Of An Oak Coffee Table

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009

A nicely decorated lounge or living room without an oak coffee table is hardly possible to imagine and can’t be substituted by any other table, made up of any other material. Oak is very renowned for its strength and hardness. It is highly resistant to insects and fungal infection and as a consequence it is very long lasting.

An oak coffee table has a long historical background. It was  popular since the early seventeenth century and from this standpoint it is traditional and prestigious. It is possible that the coffee table was used from early 1600s and number of stalwarts, philosophers, scientists, poets, writers through different ages and times and in different countries gathered together for having discussions and exchange of opinion, those ultimately developed many new ideas and creations, culminating overall progress for human being.

In almost each and every household a coffee table is inevitable and common in the living room where the family members may assemble together in the leisure hour to gossip and can entertain the friends and guests. However a coffee table is not the only component for a household interior decoration but it complements the other matching furniture.

Oak wood has a very attractive grain marking on its cross sectional surface and an oily surface treatment gives it an exquisite outlook and that is why it is used in constructing fine furniture and the interior panels of many prestigious buildings. Gold paint and different woodcraft  on the oak can further give it a gorgeous and beautiful look.

An oak coffee table generally should be of a low height e.g. 11-15 inches. An under shelf and side robe may be added to it for an extra advantage for keeping empty cups and coffee mugs and some magazines respectively. A leggy coffee table matches perfectly well with a skirted sofa. On the other hand a solid one matches with a leggy sofa. An oak framed glass top coffee table is befitting with a floor with a particularly elegant carpet. Different shapes, like square, oval, circular and triangular coffee tables may be used for different types and sizes of living rooms or lounges as well.

Hence, an oak coffee table is not only a beautiful, elegant, prestigious, long lasting asset but at the same time there is no other kind of coffee table that can be a substitute for it. It really can add an extra taste to a cup of coffee.
